Freestyle Precision B-Ketone Test Strips for the Freestyle Precision (not commercially available) and Freestyle Precision Neo blood glucose meter. Individually wrapped in foil. The measurement is performed with only 1.5 µl of blood in about 10-15 seconds. With the FreeStyle Precision B-Ketone test strip you can measure the amount of ketones in the blood. Collecting urine is then no longer necessary and the measurement is more reliable.

Why measure ketones?

During physical exertion, our body uses sugars (Glucose) or fats. When using body fats, ketones are formed and in large quantities this can acidify your blood. An increase in your ketone level is also known as ketoacidosis. Since ketoacidosis in combination with diabetes can lead to a diabetic coma, measurement of ketones is strongly recommended under special circumstances. Otherwise, you can also look at the Ketogenic Diet, for example.
